RED AND BLACK INTRICATE PAISLEY AND FLORAL HAND BLOCK PRINTED COTTON FABRIC WITH NATURAL DYES FROM ARTISANS IN INDIA
Hand Block printing is a century-old Indian art form and a hand skill practice that involves a lot of hard work, and the production process is painstaking and manual utilizing natural dyes and vegetable pastes. In the making of this printed fabric, a hand-carved teak wood block is dipped in plant extracted dyes in black and red and stamped by hand onto the soft cotton fabric. Crafted with natural dyes and hand-printed using stained wood blocks makes it a piece of art. The fabric is also dyed with the plant dyes, and the unique prints are derived from flowers, leaves, and barks and layouts are dramatic with the use of black and red alternately over beige featuring florid vines & ornate honeycomb borders and usually has traditional paisleys, geometrical patterns, tiny florets, buds and vine motifs with a vintage feel.
Rudraksha beads are the seeds of a Himalayan fruit tree that the scriptures say sprang from Lord Shiva’s tears while he meditated with open eyes to save the world from evil forces. Rudraksha beads are treasured for the manifold powers that they bestow, such as tranquility, concentration, and above all, assistance on the path to enlightenment. A mala is typically made from 108 beads and one larger additional bead called a Sumeru. Begin the round with the sumeru and end when it is reached again. Applique Mandala Wall Hanging
This famous Mandala applique craft of flowers and elephants with mirror work on Solid cotton cloth hails from the southern part of India. A craft that originated as a temple art now finds application in a wide range of household, decorative and ceremonial products.
The appliqué items are mainly used during processions of the deities in their various ritual outings. The motif used consists of stylized representations of flora and fauna as well as a few elephant figures. In some, we find just the floral pattern, and some have floral with elephants on it.
Craftsmen use different kinds of stitches to attach the different floral motifs. It can be used on the Altar place or to cover the table, wall, or ceiling of any room.
